Tim - From Military Mindset to Present Fatherhood.

“I didn’t see my son’s birthday until he turned 4. Something had to change.”

For Tim R, fatherhood started with sacrifice. As a former military serviceman turned full-time coordinator and hands-on dad, the grind wasn’t just in his work — it was in how he rebuilt himself for his family.

From racing go-karts at dawn with his sons to coaching his daughters through dance and soccer, Tim now lives for presence, not pressure.

⚙️ The Reality of the Grind

“It’s long days, early starts, and constant sacrifice — but I wouldn’t change it.”

His two sons race competitively. Tim maintains their karts, tunes engines, and works full-time leading a team of 30. Yet the hardest part?

“Missing the small stuff. Sports days. Assembly awards. That eats away at you.”

While military life gave him structure, it cost him presence. So he left.

💥 Breaking the Cycle

“I was angry. And one day, I realised I was becoming the man I never wanted to be — my dad.”

Tim made a choice: to lead his family differently. That meant rebuilding his emotional tools, unlearning generational patterns, and staying involved, even when it felt like too much.

“Now, I make sure they’re part of my ‘busy’ — the karting, the dancing, all of it.”

🔧 Lessons in Real Fatherhood

  • You can’t outsource connection.
He shows up because presence beats perfection.

  • You can reset at any time.
Tim went back to school and started again, to realign with his priorities.

  • Kids mirror what you model.
From his daughter’s hugs after dancing to post-race high fives, it’s the small stuff that sticks.

🎯 His Message to Other Dads

“If work is costing you your presence, change it. Study, retrain, downshift — whatever it takes. Family is number one.”

Tim’s not just building karts. He’s building resilience, emotional safety, and a legacy of better choices.
